As you might know, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Corporation Finance released a guidance document in October, outlining disclosure practices for public companies – in light of the recent spike in cyber security attacks and associated data breaches.

The guidance document suggests that companies have to pay more attention to assessing the impact of cyber security attacks and its outcome.

So, considering 2011 had a record numbers of cyber security attacks and associated breaches with very public disclosures, what’s your opinion on strict security?  Do you think the new guidance document is Ripe, and stricter regulations are necessary, or will this cause more harm than good for businesses, and it’s Hype?
