New research about managed services, conducted by industry association CompTIA, reflects interviews with 400 IT and business professionals conducted in June 2011.  The survey shows that 46% of companies have cut their technology expenses by 25% or more by moving to managed services for some or all of their IT infrastructure needs.

Approximately 13% of those companies reported that they have cut at least 50% out of their IT expenses.

As a result, this money is being distributed elsewhere. They are using managed services for things such as security, web hosting, network management or help-desk support, and they are freeing up internal IT staff for more strategic projects.

What do you think about managed services? Are you using it to free up your internal team for more strategic projects, and this is Ripe, or do you think this study is Hype?
