Logicalis Military Veteran Employees Serve Vets in the Community

Previously, we discussed how Logicalis’ Military Personnel Employee Resource Group (MPERG) supports veterans and the kinds of activities that MPERG is doing to help recruit veterans to Logicalis. This time, we want to talk about how we support the veteran community.

Part of the reason that we joined the military is for the camaraderie. That’s also why we started MPERG. We wanted to form a community of like-minded people and bond over our shared experiences.

We also wanted to serve a mission bigger than ourselves (the primary reason we joined the military in the first place). Just because most of us are no longer actively serving, we’re not done. We still want to give back to the veteran community that continues to inspire us every day.

Here’s how—through our public-private partnerships, nonprofit veteran organizations, and on our own—MPERG and Logicalis support our military veterans.

Partnering with the VA, universities and Hiring Our Heroes

Our three largest Logicalis offices—Bloomfield Hills, MI, Tempe, AZ and West Chester, OH—partner with their local VA offices, universities and Hiring Our Heroes to actively recruit veterans. Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.

These public-private partnerships enable us to participate in virtual career fairs to help recruit veterans. Our Bloomfield Hills, MI will be participating in this Hiring Our Heroes virtual event, hosted by the Michigan VA Agency and MichiganWorks!

We are also looking at the May event as a potential platform for Logicalis to sponsor our own half-day virtual career fair with a keynote opening/closing, virtual career fair, and marketplace. We will also partner with Cisco Webex to provide virtual breakout rooms for resume evaluation, mock interviews, mentor opportunities, and more.

And we continue to look for public-private partnerships on the national level to extend our reach in the military community and meet our recruitment goals.

Partnering with organizations that support our veterans

This year, Logicalis also chose to become a national sponsor of Disabled American Veterans (dav.org), a nonprofit that supports veterans with rides to medical appointments, assistance with benefits claims and connections to meaningful employment opportunities.

And, at the holidays, we work with the United Service Organizations, more commonly known as the USO, to put together and deliver care packages to our troops around the world. In 2019, we donated some 5,000 items for 600 care packages.

Supporting our own and their families

Finally, we’re proud to support our employees who continue to serve. When Matt Previts, Logicalis Account Executive and Information Warfare Qualified IP Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves, deployed to Afghanistan last year, Logicalis jumped in to support Matt, his wife Lisa, and their family.

First, we sent Matt and his team care packages to make sure he didn’t forget us! Then we donated $1,500 in goods for Matt and Lisa’s baby girl, who was born shortly before Matt deployed. Finally, our group of highly motivated “chefs” organized a meal train to deliver some 57 meals to Lisa and the kids while Matt was away.

We’re always looking for a few good veterans like Matt! Join us at one of the virtual career fairs mentioned earlier or visit our Careers page to see what positions are available (MOS functionality coming soon!).

In the meantime, we’re collecting what we’re calling “veterans’ voices.” These videos allow you to hear directly from our military and veteran employees about their service and the value that each of them brings to Logicalis and our respective communities.
