There has been debate recently about Facebook’s use of energy efficient technology and data center.  Some say Facebook is still relying on coal-fired power to operate.  Nearby, BendBroadband, a preferred provider for cable television, high-speed Internet and digital phone service in central Oregon, another green data center is looking a lot more green.

BendBroadband announced that in addition to buying carbon credits to offset its emissions, it was buying coal-free power through PacifiCorp’s Blue Sky renewable power program.

What do you think about the competitive green data center?  Is it possible to have a truly green data center (Ripe) or are we not there yet (Hype)?
