A TechRepublic blogger thought the revolution of cloud computing and virtualization would make the operating system an afterthought for cloud computing, and would not factor into decision making anymore.

However, after polling 1,995 IT leaders, he discovered responders believe the operating system will continue to be important to IT pros in the near future, with many taking the point of view that the OS will always be important. The survey found that 62% believe the operating system does really matter, and 38% said no, it doesn’t matter.

What do you think?  Do you believe the operating system matters for cloud computing (Ripe), or is this just Hype, and the OS won’t matter before long?
