Managing a company’s data is not an easy job, especially now that bring-your-own-device adds a new level of security decisions. Companies no longer manage and secure their own devices, but also make sure that their employee’s devices are secure. And BYOD isn’t going to go away. In fact it is becoming an even bigger issue. Employees are even beginning to bring their own cloud to work using clouds such as Dropbox, SugarSync, MediaFire, and more to hold company data.

So with all of these devices and clouds holding important data it is vital to have management tactics in place. First, it is critical to choose effective technology to secure your data, and revisit the market every 6-12 months to scope new technology and see if there is something better for your particular needs. It is also important to have mobile device management (MDM) and data loss prevention (DLP) in place.

It is difficult, but essential to keep all of your company’s data secure. Do you think BYOD is all hype or is it ripe and causing new data security threats?
