Fortinet recently sponsored a survey to find out what employees, and especially employees in their 20s, thought about BYOD. The surveyors wanted to focus on this younger age group because these digitally savvy workers are the future of the workforce.
The survey found that more than half of these employees believe that they have a right to use their mobile devices at work. One out of 3 employees surveyed even went as far as to say that they would gladly break any anti-BYOD rules that would forbid them to use their personal devices at work or for work purposes. And two-thirds of the people surveyed believed that they should be responsible for the security of the devices used for work purposes, not their company.
This survey demonstrates the great rift that is just beginning to come up between companies and their employees when it comes to BYOD and security.
Do you think this BYOD security challenge is ripe? Or is this survey just more hype? And what does your company plan to do about BYOD in the future?
