The concept of work happening in one place and between a certain set of hours has disappeared and been replaced with a phrase – Bring Your Own Device. Instead employees work at the office, at home, at a coffee shop or restaurant and even in the car. Employees work before office hours, during the day, over their lunch break and even check email before they go to sleep at night. The traditional workday and workplace have fallen away.

The next generation of workers, The Millennials, are a major force in driving this change. These workers, between ages 18-29, have a desire to blend work with their personal life and therefore depend heavily upon BYOD. They have also brought this mentality to their coworkers causing Europe and the United States to see a BYOD growth from 15% to 29% between 2011 and 2012.

Do you believe that this BYOD mentality will continue to change the workplace and work hours and this is ripe? Or do you believe that BYOD is not this effective and is only causing hype?

If you do believe that BYOD will continue to bring change to the workplace and work hours, what changes do you anticipate? And do you believe these changes will be positive or negative – post your comments below.
