Many IT organizations are still concerned with monitoring the physical infrastructure (servers, storage, network, etc..) When moving applications to the cloud, those responsibilities are typically handled by the cloud provider. However, the one measurement that typically gets overlooked is how long does it take for a user to submit a request to an application, have that request completed and returned to the user?

End user response measurement or synthetic transaction monitoring can provide the most precise measure of user experiences and can have the biggest impact on monitoring the performance of your applications in the cloud.

What do you think, is application response time important in the cloud and this is ripe, or is taking the time to measure this excessive and therefore hype?
