With all the new gadgets coming out more and more employees want to use their own personal devices at work, such as personal smart phones, tablets, and computers, instead of the work devices they are given. While this seems rational to employees it can be burdensome on the IT leaders of the company, because using a personal device causes a new set of problems such as employees feeling they can visit any website or use any app they choose, since they are on their personal device.

IT leaders also have to be concerned with whether the corporate data on the employees’ devices are secure and can be wiped in the case that the employee either loses the device or leaves the company.

What is your verdict? Is this ripe and the concerns with employee devices are justified, or is this just hype?
